Installment 3

In this series, I am going to cover numerous work from home ideas that will not break the bank to get started in.

In the last installment, we covered Mural Painting, Furniture Painting, and Custom Tile Painter.  We will now dig further into more opportunities to create income from talents and hobbies. 

Job #4

If you have gorgeous handwriting and love to write, then perhaps calligraphy is for you.  Calligraphers are very well known for doing things like invitations to weddings, diplomas and other items.  Some calligraphers even take scripture passages, write them out, and are able to sell them as well.  If you offer your services for a good price, you are likely to draw a lot of attention from repeat customers, and word of mouth advertising.  Calligraphy can be used for so much more than just wedding invitations get creative and see where your mind leads you and your pen. 

Can’t decide where to begin advertising?  Talk to bridal shops, and tuxedo rental places, see if the mangers will allow you to leave fliers or business cards.  It just takes a few happy first customers to turn this into something simple and profitable that you can truly enjoy.  Whether full time or part time calligraphers are always in high demand.

Are you a hopeless romantic?  Do you enjoy creating your own cards for friends and family?  If so then perhaps you can sell your ideas to the different greeting card companies.  Beware with this however, unless you are highly, highly talented this will at most bring in some extra cash but not likely to replace a whole income if that is your goals and aim for your home based business. 

Many greeting card companies get their ideas from the many thousands of people who submit ideas.  Quite often, the ideas you submit are never returned to you even if they are rejected so be aware of this, and make copies in case you want to create a portfolio of attempted pieces.

Photographers are always popular and lately trends have shown many people treat their family pet just like a child.  Many people find taking pet photographs to be very intriguing and fascinating to do.  This is a great source of additional income that with the right prices and marketing strategy can easily and quickly develop into a full time source of income.  People also love the ideas of Santa pictures with their pets, so Christmas is an especially lucrative time of year. 

Make sure you clearly let people know up front what types of pets you are willing to work with.  If you are squeamish like myself, then snakes and other reptiles are not likely to be your idea of run.  I have numerous things I would rather do than be in the same building with a snake or reptile so photographing a snake is out of my league.  If you have good prices and a good setup and take great pictures then this will help you greatly with some good word of mouth advertising.
