Indoor or Outdoor Wedding
One of the biggest issues to get out of the way quickly is whether you want an indoor wedding or an outdoor wedding.  This one choice will have an effect on the selection of the bride’s dress, the bridesmaid dresses, the shoes, the selection of the wedding date and so much more.

Most brides are not thrilled of the idea of a huge 10’ train on a dress when getting married outside, so you can see how inside or outside is a huge deal.  Brides who prefer outside weddings tend to have shorter and simpler dresses and trains than those who are doing a traditional inside wedding.  This is not to say that a gown for an outside wedding cannot still be stunning and beautiful.  However, it will likely be much different than the gown you would have selected if you were being married inside.

Some brides choose to get married on a beautiful beach, a gorgeous garden, or in an elegant gazebo.  Other brides picture their wedding in a candle lit chapel, or a more spiritual experience in a church.  Whichever image suits your taste better is completely up to you.  Some brides lately are even opting for their wedding on a beach with a sundress and bare feet beneath their feet.

One of the biggest things to remember is your own personal style.  While others in your wedding party and family are likely to offer up opinions about how they think your wedding should look you must remember it is your special day.  Your wedding should be something that brings about fond memories, not pain, and resentment when you look back on it years later.  Keep your own personal style and preferences as your highest priority so you enjoy your special day for years to come.

While this may seem like common sense, many brides and grooms put their own wishes to the side in an effort to make their family happy.  Your family should be offering suggestions and tips, however if you choose to take those suggestions depends on how well they fit into your ideal wedding.  If the suggestions clash with your dream, then nicely tell the helpful people in your life that you appreciate the suggestions and tips and you will look into it.  You are not making any final decisions without the bride/grooms input since it is their special day as well.  This will give you some time to make sure you both are on the same page about your wishes and desires so you can plan together to ensure your day is truly about you.
