I just purchased this HP Photosmart C3140 so I could have more options for my home based business.  This new printer features HP’s new Vivera Inks and I love it.  The printer took only 10 minutes to set up completely on my home network.  For its price, this is a very powerful and versatile machine. 

I paid less than $90 for this machine.  It prints regular documents; photo’s, copies and scans quickly and easily.  I am able to print up to 20 color pages per minute and 22 black pages per minute.  Not bad stats put the printer on fast draft settings to save ink and it prints even faster with still wonderful quality printing. 

I have heard some people complaining about how long HP printers take to print after selecting a document to print, I have not experienced this problem with this printer; it sends documents to be printed quickly and gives no hassles.  Wonderful response time of less than 2 seconds on average means little waiting on documents in the queue. 

For scanning this all in one printer is able to scan at a resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 DPI, add to that printing a 4 x 6” photo in approximately 25 seconds means that while this machine is one of the lower end printers it is by no means a joke or a toy.  It is perfectly capable of handling whatever you throw at it. 

I am upgrading to this printer from a HP Photosmart 7760, and I must say that the new C3140 has a much better picture quality for printing color pages.  I am much happier with the quality of my business documents when using the C3140.  The prices of ink are not hard on the wallet either, which is always something to consider when purchasing a printer, this printer uses the 92 black and 93 color ink cartridges.  For photo’s it is cartridge 99.  Prices for the cartridges were less than $15 for 92, and less than $20 for the 93.  While prices will vary slightly based upon geographical location and which store purchased at, this equals a good price range for the inks. 

With this printer, it is possible to make photo reprints up to 8.5 x 11” in size quickly and easily, insert your digital camera memory stick into the front of the printer to select your photo to print, or you can easily print a proof sheet of the pictures on the memory card to select your picture from.  This printer also comes with HP Photosmart Essential Software and HP Photosmart Express to manipulate pictures with. 

Please take note this printer is almost entirely ready to go right out of the box, however the USB cord to connect the printer to your computer is not included.  The price of a USB cord is between $5-$20 depending upon store and the desired length of the cord you select.  If you have extra cords around the house as I do, then you are free to use one of those to operate the printer. 

Overall, this is a great printer that folds up nicely; I would not trade it for the world.  Great price and a nice stable company help make me feel at ease with my purchase.  Now if only this printer could put kids to bed, it would truly be my All in One Machine.
