| How to Save Money on Kids Clothes |
|
Let us face it most kids outgrow their clothes very quickly. How to keep them in good clothes without breaking the bank becomes a huge issue the more kids you have. Here are some helpful tips and suggestions on how to save some money while still keeping kids in clothes. Tip #1 Clearance Sales. Always check at your favorite stores for clothes that are on clearance, while the hottest styles are not always available this way, the basics that all kids need like jeans, sweaters, swimsuits and other necessities are usually on clearance at some point. Grab stuff after the season ends for next year and start collecting them in a closet. Pull out the needed clothes that fit at the beginning of each season and you greatly reduce the amount of money you are spending on clothes. I have done this for my two girls and have saved loads of money. I can spend $10-$30 bucks to purchase $200-$400 worth of clothes at the right price.
Tip #2 Buy in Bulk. Sometimes stores will run a sale where you purchase one item, receive a second free, or half off. Take advantage of these sales they are a great way to save some money on the trends of the season. Why pay full price when it is possible to save a good deal of money. Things like underwear, and socks are another good item to buy in bulk, most places offer large packages and the per item price is lower than if buying small quantities.
Tip #3 Thrift Stores. Check your local thrift stores for good deals. Several of the stores in my area run a special at the end of the month where a flat fee buys a bag, whatever fits into the bag you can have without paying additional. Most of the prices for the bag vary from $2 up to as much as $10 just depends on how well stocked the store is and how much they are trying to clear out. Be careful however, some items in thrift stores might have holes, or unremovable stains. If it has a stain when you buy it, assume it is not removable.
Tip #4 Freecycle. This is a great way to get some clothes for free. Many areas offer a chapter of this group. The items are all free, so pick out from the assortment offered what you want to keep, and then simply freecycle the rest. This group was originally set up to keep stuff out of the landfills; however, a lot of people just give away items on freecycle that they would have otherwise just given away to a charity or thrift store.
Tip #5 Flea Markets, Yard Sales, and Garage Sales. These are all great places to find good deals on clothes. Most people just want the clothes gone, so negotiating price is almost always an available option to you.
Remember one of the biggest aspects of getting clothes cheaper is looking towards the future, start stocking up on clothes that are in bigger sizes before they are needed, so you are not having to pay expensive in season prices. Only buy a few pieces in the correct size and pull the rest from your collection you are acquiring. This is going to help you save a lot of money. |
